On a joint of antique times and the Middle Ages (VII century) the person with Ananii Shirakatsi - the astronomer, the mathematician, the first liberal scientist of Armenia is allocated. It is known that he was born in Ani (nowadays in Turkey), studied in Trebizond under the direction of the Byzantian scientist Tjuhika in the mathematics, philosophy, geography, kosmografii and to other sciences. SHirakatsi adhered to antique sights, considering that from four basic elements (fire, air, the earth and water) everything consists that is on the Earth and in the sky. He has been assured of sphericity of the Earth and that it does not fall as is in balance under the influence of counteracting forces. And otlivy the scientist has defined the reason of light of the Moon and its influence on inflow perfectly.

In Chirac (Gjumri, Leninakan, Gumry) where Shirakatsi of veins also worked, at it was many pupils, however independent behaviour and too free sights displeased also prosecutions from outside clergy as the scientist considered that God after world creation does not interfere any more with Universe development, and space strict laws operate.

The Scientist was engaged in drawing up of calendars, wrote textbooks. His compositions ' Kosmografija and the calendar theory ' and ' About astronomical geometry ' have reached us in not numerous hand-written lists.

The Middle Ages Period, up to the middle of XVI century, at all did not favour to development biological, as, however, and other sciences. During this period the intolerant relation to any scientific experiences, especially in the field of knowledge of sacraments of a birth, vital development and death dominated. Everything that was authorised the nobility, was stated in Aristotle's works and comments of fathers of church.

In the Middle Ages people not especially were interested in wildlife. Existence of plants was perceived as the fact, the by itself understood. Grasses collected to learn their properties, and used them in medicine. Believed that each plant created by God, has the distinctive sign prompting, what its properties are useful to the person. Were interested in everywhere widespread pets. About them what they eat as breed was known, mainly, grow eventually to become food for the person.

At the same time almost knew nothing about wild animals. There was an opinion that they serve a devil. Behind them supervision were not conducted, them did not study, did not write proceedings on zoology. In the Middle Ages the science leant, mainly, against authorities.
