By the end of XVIII century doubts in justice of the corpuscular theory have started to appear, and some scientists have seen possibility to explain results of Grimaldi by means of the wave theory. Ogjusten Jean Frenel ( 1788-1827) was largest of them . He has lived the short life complicated besides a political hardship of a Napoleonic mode. The name of Frenelja has for ever entered into physics in connection with the general class of the phenomena of the diffraction open by Grimaldi. Frenel has developed a complete theory of these phenomena.

Frenel has found the hot supporter in the person Dominica François Arago (1786-1853). Together they have done set of experiences - one have appeared rather trivial, but others have got outstanding value as have convinced even opponents of the wave theory of its correctness. These experiences have been put under the influence of Simeona Deni Puassona (1781 1840), one of the largest French scientists of the beginning of XIX century

Puasson has noticed that if on a way of the beam of light which is let out by a dot source to place the round screen of perpendicularly axis of a bunch waves - if light is wave movement - should reach screen edges in one phase; but then in the centre of a shade they should develop and give a bright stain. This conclusion seemed it absolutely absurd. But Frenel and Arago have conducted such experiment and have found out that the bright stain is really observed. Thus was pereubezhden one of the main opponents of the wave theory, and the theory became standard.

It is possible to check up the wave theory of light differently, having used other phenomenon - an interference. To define the phenomena of diffraction and an interference it is possible as made according to one or several beams of light.
