In 1888 of Hertz has published article in which has described set of remarkable results. It has shown rectilinear distribution of electromagnetic waves, having shown that the metal screen stops iskrenie while an insulator, for example the wooden door, does not interfere with it. Having turned one mirror on 90 °, the Hertz has shown that waves are polarised and, hence, are cross-section. By means of the big zinc plate it has shown reflexion of waves though successful application of mirrors, certainly, already proved existence of this property. The hertz has carried out also refraction of waves, having passed them through a prism from firm bitumen, and has found the indicator of refraction close to 1,7.

The Hertz has laid the foundation for new branch of technics - radio communications.

So the known electromagnetic spectrum has been expanded from lengths of waves of an order of thousand shares of millimetre to metres and tens metres (radio-wave). Since then shorter waves have been received as longer, and. And blanks in a spectrum are filled. Between long infra-red waves and short radio-waves there is no basic difference.
